Satisfaction: fulfillment of one’s wishes, expectations, or needs, or the pleasure derived from this
Are you satisfied? Do you really know what it feels like to be satisfied? Most of us would say no. Some of us have never known satisfaction or the peace that comes with it. Some people live in a constant state of ‘tension’ because of their perspective in life; some are just in a current state of ‘tension’ because of a season of life. In either case it is my firm belief that everyone can live a life of satisfaction.
I am a creationist. I believe we are triune beings Spirit, Soul & Body created in the image of God in heaven. With that said, if you consider yourself the same, you were created to live in a state of satisfaction. I’ve learned so much lately after coming out of one of the toughest season’s of my life to date. One would think it was the circumstances that caused the season to be tough. I say no. It was my state of mind. It was my “stinkin thinkin”. I am willing to bet your strong sense of dissatisfaction too, is coming from your mindset.
We are created for expansion and growth. So a certain level of dissatisfaction and always striving to learn more, be better, go farther in life, is normal, even good. But when your negative thought life is keeping you stuck in nowhere-land, it’s time to do something different. As the saying goes: If nothing changes; nothing changes.
I am currently learning about the brain science that causes a good thought or a bad thought to grow. It is intriguing. It is fact. What we think about, we bring about. Our minds have the power to change our DNA, our very genetic expression. Our minds are that powerful. Isn’t that fascinating?
I love to quote the Bible because it’s just so practical and relevant still today. If we will get to know our Creator and His purpose for our lives he promises to “satisfy the thirsty and fill the hungry with good things.” Psalms 107:9 What’s the thirsty and hungry business about? It’s about wanting more, seeking better, becoming a person of understanding and embracing the fact that God is just plain delighted with you. Jason Upton said it best, “Our ability to truly love is connected to our satisfaction in God’s approval of us.”
Are you connected to God’s approval of you? Do you even know what that means? It’s a free gift. No striving involved. It’s really just about knowing the truth and meditating on it. We have 4-7 negative thoughts going through our brain at any one time. Begin to think about what you’re thinking about.
Are you satisfied?
You and your mind have the power to change it.
